Every step towards sustainable development is a step towards a better future for us and our Earth. Our educational course on sustainable development for children is one such step.
We aim to raise a new generation with a responsible attitude towards energy resource consumption, an active position on environmental conservation, and to promote the formation of conscious habits such as waste sorting and the adoption of renewable energy sources.
That is why we are conducting a course for children in schools on "Sustainable Development and Green Energy."
Thanks to the solar power stations we build and the educational courses in schools, we:
-
Provide access to education,
-
Provide access to uninterrupted electricity supply,
-
Provide access to education on sustainable development and green energy through extracurricular courses,
-
Encourage the formation of ecological habits in children, shaping a generation of eco-activists.
Problem Statement
The war in Ukraine has affected different groups of children in various ways. Some children have lost their parents, others are displaced, and many have limited access to education. These children are in particularly disadvantaged situations, with unequal access to quality education, especially in emerging fields such as sustainable development and green energy.
At the same time, 50% of Ukraine's energy infrastructure has been damaged since 2022 due to Russian attacks. Renewable energy sources, such as solar energy and sustainable solutions, are crucial in addressing the current and future energy poverty crisis. Therefore, education in renewable energy is extremely important for children affected by the war in Ukraine, to ensure equal access to education for all groups of children and to nurture a future generation of eco-activists.
According to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine
3 798
schools were damaged
365
schools were completely destroyed
2.5 mil
children are internally displaced persons in Ukraine
67 000
children have lost their parents due to the war in Ukraine
The PISA research data from 2018 and 2022 shows that the academic performance of Ukrainian students has declined:
-
In science subjects, scores dropped by 19 points (from 469 to 450, respectively).
The main educational challenges in Ukraine currently are:
-
Limited access to quality education due to the war;
-
The need to make up for lost educational time;
-
Insufficient attention to natural sciences in educational programs;
-
The absence of any education on sustainable development and green energy.
About the Course
In all the schools where we are building solar power stations, we conduct a training course for children on "Sustainable Development and Green Energy."
The course consists of 4 elective modules and lasts for 1 month.
In the long term, children will contribute to the formation of a new conscious and sustainable attitude in everyday life for a more sustainable future in Ukraine.
The course aims to reinforce and practice the knowledge acquired through engaging games and tasks for children. The children will receive homework, which will be assessed by an expert to consolidate the knowledge gained.
The course is interactive, with students completing homework, participating in intellectual competitions during offline electives, and taking part in initiatives to reduce plastic use. They will also win eco-friendly prizes such as power banks, eco-bags, reusable bottles, etc. Each student will receive a certificate upon completing the course.
of surveyed pupils have given positive feedback about the course.
