Dunayivtsi Lyceum No. 1, which has 812 students, has taken a significant step towards energy independence by completing the installation of a solar power plant. Thanks to our cooperation with GIZ, this school has become an example of how modern schools can overcome energy challenges and contribute to sustainable development.
The 24.36 kW solar power plant now operating on the roof of the lyceum will generate 27,276 kWh of clean energy annually. This will allow the school to significantly reduce its dependence on traditional energy sources and save money on bills.
In addition, thanks to the 28.8 kWh batteries and 24 kW inverters, the lyceum will be able to store energy for use in case of blackouts, providing lighting and power to the necessary equipment to continue the learning process even during power outages.
This support is part of the efforts to restore and strengthen resilience in Ukraine as part of the German government's implementation programmes, such as the Stabilisation Platform and GIZ Renewables for Resilient Ukraine (R2U).
Lyceum No. 1 in Dunayivtsi is just one of five projects where the Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation is installing solar power plants as part of this initiative to ensure energy independence and security for as many Ukrainians as possible.
The project ‘Renewable Energy for Sustainable Ukraine’ is implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German government in cooperation with a consortium of NGOs: Ecoclub, Ecodiya, Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation and RePower Ukraine Charitable Foundation.
Thanks to these initiatives, we are bringing Ukraine's energy independence closer.
