On November 25 we officially launched a solar station with an energy storage system at the Irpin Academic Lyceum "Mriya". The solar station with energy storage systems was equipped on the roof of the lyceum - with 52 solar panels with a total capacity of 20 kW. The storage systems guarantee power supply to the lyceum for 3-5 hours in case of outages. The solar station will cover up to 35% of the school's average yearly consumption.
Irpin Academic Lyceum "Mriya" became the first project within the Foundation campaign "100ResforSchools".
Donors and partners: BSW-Solar and its participating companies, who provided equipment and logistical assistance: Qcells Europe, BayWa r.e. Global, SMA Solar Technology, HOPPECKE Batterien and IBC SOLAR.
The installation of equipment at the Lyceum was financed by the German Federal Foreign Office.
The project was implemented with the support of the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine.
Our guests and speakers were the Ambassador of Germany to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen, Irpin Mayor Oleksandr Markushyn, Deputy Head of Irpin City Council, Deputy Head of Kyiv Regional State Administration Zhanna Osypenko, Head of the Education and Science Department of Irpin Community Oleksandr Bilorus. We are grateful for the cooperation of the director of "Mriya" Ivan Ptashnyk and our partner Unisolar.
Together with Unisolar we held the first optional lesson on green energy for students and told them about renewable energy sources and features of solar stations. This topic aroused sincere interest among children, which gives hope for an energy-independent future of Ukraine.
In January and February in the Lyceum "Mriya" the training for children on sustainable development will be held by the Foundation, in cooperation with the Agency 17:59. The programme is developed for 6-11 grades and will run from 30 January to 13 February.
