Two hospitals in the Chernihiv region

Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation and the French non-governmental organization Electriciens sans frontières have installed hybrid solar power plants in two medical facilities in the Chernihiv region.

Opening: December 13, 2024

Donors and Partners:

The installation of hybrid solar power plants in two hospitals in the Chernihiv region was made possible thanks to the support of the foundation’s partner Electriciens sans frontières and the assistance of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France through its Crisis and Support Center.

The company Octopus Energy is also a partner of the foundation, supporting renewable energy and energy storage projects in schools and hospitals across Ukraine.

In the Chernihiv region, two-thirds of the communities were under russian occupation for more than a month in February–March 2022, including the city of Koriukivka. Overall, due to russian aggression, more than 12,000 buildings have been destroyed or damaged in the region, which continues to suffer from regular shelling and missile attacks.

Koriukivka Central District Hospital

The hybrid solar power plant will allow the hospital to operate autonomously for up to 4 hours, even during blackouts.

Thanks to this installation, 70,000 beneficiaries have experienced positive changes.

"Chernihiv region is a special place for our foundation. Over the past three years, we have built solar power plants in seven hospitals, and four of them are in this region. Chernihiv bravely withstood the occupation in 2022 and is now actively recovering, rebuilding, and developing.

All these challenges have not broken but rather strengthened the courageous and resilient people who live and work here. It is extremely important for us to support the communities in this region—by implementing renewable energy solutions, helping them become more energy-independent, modern, and eco-friendly, providing valuable knowledge, and implementing technological innovations. Because this is the future—and in Chernihiv, it will certainly be a solar one."
